Photofacials Q & A
What is a photofacial?
Photofacials (also called IPL photofacials or intense pulsed light photofacials) use focused, broad-spectrum light to help stimulate the skin's natural healing and tissue regeneration processes so skin looks refreshed and rejuvenated. It's often used in women and men with sun damage, uneven skin tone, rosacea, hyperpigmentation and enlarged pores, but it can be used in other patients to help skin achieve a healthier, more youthful glow.
What is the procedure like?
During each photofacial session, light energy is delivered using a special handheld device. As light reaches the deeper layers of tissue, the energy is absorbed, stimulating the generation of new, healthy cells as well as the production of collagen and elastin. Because light is focused on these deeper layers, the surface of the skin is untouched so there is no risk of superficial tissue damage. Most treatments take from 15 minutes to a half hour.
What kind of results can I expect?
Photofacials help skin appear more evenly toned and refreshed with a smoother, softer feel and appearance. They can also help decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as enlarged pores for a more refined texture overall. The results of each session are subtle, building over time as the production of new, healthy skin cells continues and as collagen production ramps up.
What is the recovery like?
Recovery following a photofacial is simple. There is no downtime, and most patients experience only a little redness that resolves soon afterward.

IPL skin rejuvenation is a common cosmetic procedure designed to produce a clear, healthy and beautiful complexion.
What is IPL Skin Rejuvenation?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light technology. It is an FDA and TGA-approved and patented form of treatment which has been shown to be both safe and effective. IPL is also known as photo rejuvenation. Because it is a relatively simple and straightforward procedure, with few concerns in terms of either side effects, recovery time, or the level of invasiveness with the treatment itself, IPL is continuing to become a more widely utilized choice.

LASER SKIN RESURFACING
Imagine a treatment that can treat fine lines, wrinkles, and improve textural irregularities all in one sitting. Now, imagine you can achieve all this in a treatment that requires little- to-no downtime and is clinically proven for ALL skin types.
Sublative Rejuvenation by Syneron is one of the hottest, most revolutionary and affordable skin rejuvenation treatments in today’s cosmetic market for anti-aging and rejuvenation procedures. This procedure uses bipolar radio frequency (RF) technology. In 3-5 customized treatments, Sublative Rejuvenation can provide an effective acne scar treatment, anti-wrinkle treatment and overall rejuvenation and toning of the skin. This rejuvenating technology significantly reduces wrinkles, all types of skin imperfections, texture irregularities, and more. Proven in clinical trials, Sublative Rejuvenation provides deep dermal heating through RF energy. Clinical trials revealed that 83% of patients experienced significant improvements in skin brightness and 90% had significant improvements in skin smoothness and wrinkle reduction.
What is Sublative Rejuvenation Skin Resurfacing?
Sublative Rejuvenation by Syneron provides an affordable, effective, minimal downtime treatment for the reduction of wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture, acne scarring and other skin imperfections. Sublative treatment involves using the body's own subtle healing response to gently, gradually and reliably restore memory to the skin and its underlying tissue.
Synron's Sublative treatment uses fractionated bi-polar radio frequency to place heat energy in the upper layers of the dermis allowing for a significant increase in collagen and elastin production.
Fractionated bi-polar RF exposes only a fraction of the skin to radio frequency leaving healthy skin in between the ablated areas, which facilitates more rapid healing.
How does Sublative Rejuvenation compare to Traditional Laser Resurfacing?
Bipolar radio frequency technology targets heat energy into the dermis where it can produce significant dermal impact with minimal disruption to the top layer of skin. Multiple Sublative Rejuvenation treatments can deliver results comparable to single, more aggressive and invasive resurfacing procedures with less down time. Ablative resurfacing procedures can completely remove the surface of the skin which can result in significant down time. With the Sublative Rejuvenation, this is not the case. Fractionated bi-polar radio frequency works below the skin’s surface without overheating the top layer. This results in smoother, tighter and better skin overall with minimal downtime and irritation.
How is Sublative Rejuvenation different from Laser Rejuvenation treatments?
Unlike laser and light-based skin resurfacing treatments, Sublative Rejuvenation uses bipolar radio frequency (RF) technology to effectively reduce wrinkles, scars, acne scarring, irregular skin tone and texture. Syneron’s Sublative Rejuvenation technology is safe for most skin types. The ability to customize the depth and intensity of dermal heating results in less irritation post treatment and the safest, most effective treatment possible.
How effective is Sublative Rejuvenation?
Clinical trials validated that Sublative Rejuvenation is safe and effective. In patients studied, 83% experienced significant improvements in skin brightness and 90% had significant improvements in skin smoothness and wrinkle reduction.
How many treatments are required and what is the cost?
The general protocol for Sublative Rejuvenation includes three to five treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Discounted packages are available and may include home care products or other treatments combined to deliver maximum results.
IPL IS A QUICK IN-OFFICE PROCEDURE, WITH ALMOST ZERO NEED FOR RECOVERY.
It’s easy to fit it into your schedule and get on with the rest of your life.
You see great results without undergoing intensive surgery.
Purity Medical Spa’s IPL offers a legitimate and long-lasting solution, as opposed to some procedures which offer only short-term results.
During your procedure at Purity Medical Spa your aesthetician will apply an eye mask to protect your eyes and vision during the procedure, and topical gels may be applied on your skin to prevent overheating. You may be given a numbing cream before the procedure, but you do not undergo any form of anesthesia. During an IPL procedure, intense light from a range of wavelengths is focused on the specific parts of your skin that you are treating. The IPL device itself is gently pressed onto the skin, with a smooth, transparent surface emitting the light on the targeted areas. Meanwhile, the targeted tissue that has been damaged is naturally removed by the body. Depending on what is being treated, the exact wavelength range can be adjusted to optimize results.
The entire procedure is very quick, taking about half an hour to complete, although the exact length will depend on what you are specifically treating, and its size or scope. Once it has been completed, you will likely spend a very short recovery and observation period in the clinic before being allowed to go home.
After the procedure, it may feel as if you had been sunburned for about 24-48 hours.
You will be advised to spend anywhere from two to five days out of direct and prolonged sun exposure. Your clinician may also recommend avoiding direct hot water streams, i.e., your shower, or soaking in water in a tub or pool.
Individual IPL sessions are spaced approximately four weeks apart. Therefore, while the treatments are quick, the overall process may take some time to see final results and completion.
